MUSIC BUSINESS NEWS * Is MySpace Still YourSpace?
MySpace has launched a new joint venture between itself and the four major music companies, which will see equity for the majors, but for no one else. Even the major independent artists whose music will help attract ad revenue will have no equity stake in the venture. Non-profit Merlin, which represents over 12.000 labels and has a combined US market share greater that EMI's, has been trying to negotiate a similar share-holder stake for independent companies but without success.
