Roskilde will present a new Award at the WOMEX Sunday Award Ceremony.
It is called the Roskilde Festival World Music Award, comes with 30,000 euros and will be presented the coming three years in connection with the international market, conference and festival for world music, WOMEX, held in Copenhagen in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
"For many years we have had the pleasure of presenting world music to a great audience at Roskilde Festival. Therefore, it is an obvious thing for us to use the event to give something back. That's why we have founded this award," says Peter Hvalkof, booker of world music at Roskilde Festival.
