SACRARMONIA
with ARKE STRING QUARTET
&
Ivan Ciccarelli (percussions)

A mosaic full of signs and stimuli, a journey in time and space, an ideal sound track of the soul: this is Sacrarmonia, a project created by Antonella Ruggiero, one of the most versatile and interesting voice on the Italian music scene, accompanied by the Arke String Project, a very expressive string quartet, and the percussionist Ivan Ciccarelli.
Antonella's name has bridged the last 25 years of Italian music: with her songs she has narrated, followed and paralleled the evolution and the course of customs and tastes of the general public. At first with Matia Bazar and then, in the 90's, with a soloist career, as much different as successful, she has always followed the desire to space out beyond the limits of formulas and the tradition of language. Her performer's ability has been able to reach points and backgrounds very diverse from each other.
Sacrarmonia is an encounter between India, Africa, South America and the West in journey through cultures and idioms from distant worlds. Here we can find influences from classical music: Bach, Schubert, John Dowland and note the inspiration from religious repertoires, Adeste Fideles and Gounod's Ave Maria and further pass from emotional citations such as Missa Luba and Missa Criolla to Tu mi Shiva (an Indian devotional Song) and Lo frate sole, from Cantico delle Creature.
In Sacrarmonia Antonella and Arke search for territories and use material rich of history, charm and evocative power, a definite clue in the reading of the new millennium, looking and digging through hidden treasures to rediscover.
