Back in april this year, bellowhead, winners of the Radio 2 Folk Award for 'best live act' and not yet one year old, played Scala. It was an incredible night. An audience of what one critic called, 'the youngest folk crowd since Dylan's heyday' queued patiently around the block and then greeted the band as though they were rock stars, whooping at bagpipe breaks and dancing wildly to traditional English tunes given the full big band treatment by the dynamic eleven piece bellowhead.
6 months later with a summer of festivals including storming performances at Cambridge Folk Festival and the Summer Sundae Weekender and a near sell out national tour under their belts, and about to start work on their first album, the band play Off Womex to really put English music on the world stage.
