just like many other bands in the world, Rainbow found its inspiration through the ‘electric lady’ blues of Jimy Hendrix, the Mr ‘Dynamite’ James Brown energy, the ‘get up, stand up’ stand of Bob Marley, the musical ‘Mama’ power of Genesis and the ever rejoicing ‘kolé-séré’ swing of Kassav .

But it’s a basic harp, an eight-string made instrument that was to awake the conscious of the band. This harp is called NGOMBY and it is dedicated to be played during the long watch over initiating nights’ deep into the Gabonese forest.
It shows you the way to your inner soul…
The way to your inner! A kind of reverse birth, a sort of personal regression to skim the first meaning of things.
The forest is real alive, and Rainbow people know it. They’re going back to the roots every time they feel the need to.
To say things just simply as they are, not to play the notes, play the emotion. Not to play the rhythm, be the rhythm. To keep the forest in your chest even in the gloomiest shanty town.
Rainbow music holds a name and it’s DOBI MUSIC, reflecting Africa and its asphalted roads, its earthen-red tracks, curved roads and hi-tech tools as well as its poverty.
….Could we be heard!
