Meng Wang studied the Guzheng in China with leading masters Yao Yide, Yao Xu and Cao Zheng since age of 6, giving solo concert since age of 10, and received lots of awards and honours at national and international Guzheng competitions, including the Yuzhongzheng International Guzheng Competition (1999, Chaoyang, China), the Dafeng International Guzheng Competition (2001, Beijing, China) and the National Young Artist Competition (2001, Lanzhou, China). She has a passionate interest in creating cross-cultural links based on her experiences of the music of the East and the West.

In 2008, she was awarded "Hull Sinfonietta's Young International Artist of the Year". She is currently working on a cross-cultural project with Hull University music department and Hull Sinfonietta, which is leading to a series of concerts across UK and Europe with a creative combination of oriental and western music.

Meng Wang has performed widely in China and Europe. In China, she performed for the Chinese Art Council & Chinese Traditional Guzheng Academy at the Dafeng Bei International Guzheng Competition & Conference, achieved second honours at the 1998 Lanzhou Education Office Lanzhou School's Music and Dancing Competition and first-rank Performance and TV Performing honours at Lebaishi Lanzhou Youth Music Competition, which was hosted by the Lanzhou Education Office, Lanzhou TV and Guangzhou TV. Her performing experience in China is widespread and in 1999 she set up a major flood charity concert and featured on Gansu TV.

She has also performed widely in the UK, including Tate Modern, "Monkey, the journey to the west" (O2 Arena), London Chinese Music Festival, Chinese New Year celebrations at Newcastle, Newcastle Community Green Festival, Newcastle and Northumbria Universities, Manchester Chinese Art Council's Chinese Art and Music Project. Other European performances include Hayward Gallery (Dublin), Dublin City Hall, Cork City Hall, Confucius Institute (Dublin), Los Sonidos de la Biodiversidad (Valencia, Spain), among others.
