Without a doubt Roddie Romero is considered one of America's most talented musicians. Roddie's career path has catapulted his extraordinary musical capabilities into the annals of Louisiana music history. Roddie's musical mastery and tastes are exemplified by his unique South Louisiana sound, which blends his soulful vocals with legendary skill on the slide guitar and accordion.
Already a music veteran, Roddie's talent emerged when he was just a young boy growing up in the heart of Cajun/Zydeco culture. He was surrounded by great food, a close family, a rich heritage, and of course the sounds of Cajun and Zydeco music that are indigenous to Southwest Louisiana. When he was nine, his grandfather, who periodically played at family gatherings, introduced him to the accordion. Roddie displayed a natural talent for the instrument, breaking onto the local scene not only as a child prodigy, but as a bonafide star, delivering his early brand of contemporary Cajun/Zydeco music.
By the time he graduated from high school, Roddie had already established an impressive resume'. He recorded three albums (one of which shot to #1 in the Netherlands), toured the U.S. and Canada three times, appeared at the most prestigious of festivals and even changed the Louisiana law books! He gained popularity - and generated controversy - as an underage musician playing in Louisiana juke joints. The Roddie Romero Bill, passed into law by the Louisiana legislature, gives underage performers the right to perform in a bar while accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
After turning 21, Roddie toured North America and burst onto the Canadian music scene, spreading his trademark "South Louisiana Boogie" from Nova Scotia to the West Coast. Then this innovative artist took a break from heavy touring to follow a path of musical exploration, further expanding his musical tastes and talents. He delved into aspects of music he really enjoyed, teaming up with friend and pianist Eric Adcock. Their collaborations are a seamless blend of diverse, yet complementary influences, culminating in truly original material.
Roddie Romero is taking the stage, once again delivering to audiences what he does best - heartfelt vocals and supreme musicianship, Roddie Romero-style.
