BIO
Born in Barcelona, begins his professional career in 1982
forming his Mod group "Brighton 64"
Studies in songwriting, vocal training, jazz improvisation,
computer development and music theory in Barcelona, in the US
and in Cuba.
Degree in Contemporary History by the University Central de
Barcelona.
After participating in an afrocuban seminar with Guillermo
Céspedes (from the Conjunto Céspedes) and later extending
percussion studies at the Conjunto Nacional Folklórico in La
Habana, starts developing his own style marked by the fusion of
latin rhythms with jazz and songwriting.
This evolution culminates when he opens for mythical cuban
group La Vieja Trova Santiaguera in the last edition of the
"Festival Internacional de la Cançó d´Empúries". In front of
2.000 people and supported by his 6-member group, he
presents his new songs on a show based on afro cuban
percussion.
He has performed in Casa de Cultura (Girona), Festa de la
Diversitat (SOS Racisme), Festes de la Mercè (Barcelona),
Auditorio de Cajamadrid, SGAE in Barcelona, Valencia and
Madrid, Festival de Teatre de Sitges and Sala Teatreneu, among
other places.
He has released 3 cds with his label Rosazul Discos.
The Danish magazine for world music Djembe gave four stars to
his last album, Por arte de magia referring to it as "a magnific
craftmanship in which Cuba and Spain shake hands together in
harmonious fusion".
