Mariana Ramos presents a new album "SuaviDança" in a colourful palette of 12 titles.
This ensemble is an invitation to the rhythms of her "Cape Verde": Morna, Coladeira, Funana, Batucu, Mazurca; that also includes Samba and African music with arrangements that highlight elegantly Mariana's suave and alluring voice.
Eight of the titles were written by Mariana herself, among them two musical Compositions - "Beleza", a funana, an excerpt from Misa's collection of poetry, and "Nzinga Mbandi", in which she celebrates the heroine of Angola, the sister land.
With the complicity of Lucien Zerrad, guitarist and producer of "Suavidança", Mariana reconnects herself with a brother "Irmon", revives "Fogo", the volcano of her archipelago, arranged by her pianist Thierry Faure, recalls the joy of dance with "Dancador", composed by her bassist Regis Therese. The album conceals a surprise: "Nzinga Mbandi", a duet with Angelique Kidjo, that willingly expresses hope and courage.
In this, Mariana's fourth album, the brass and strings gently infiltrate the compositions of Toy Bibia, Teofilo Chantre and Jorge Humberto, nourishing the traditional themes.
Her artistry makes her stand out with a generosity and talent that can be felt whether she is on the stage or recording.
Mariana Ramos, author, composer, dancer and vocalist asserts herself as one of the leading international interpreters of this musical genre.
