SAKINA & ROYE MA | MESOPOTAMIAN CROSSROADS vol.2

The Sextet takes its audience on a journey into ancient and new
Mesopotamia. With sensitivity and poignancy it revives new worlds of sound from its region. The ballads and melodies reflect the life in its native country and the suffering and melancholy of the people, while honoring their hopes and dreams.

SAKINA combines regional styles of singing with traditional and
experimental techniques; (she is) interpretive, contemporary, ever
searching for new ways.

SAKINA has a story to tell; the timbre of her voice impresses and
convinces and her life is further confirmation. Having grown up in a musical family, she was attracted very early by the mystical sounds of her alevitic environment, followed by those of classical music, Jazz and Latin-America.

EMRAH OGUZTÜRK is recognized as a virtuoso for middle Eastern wind instruments: he plays mey and zurna as well as kaval and duduk. He is also at home with Greek gaida.
KORAY BERAT SARI, ORKUN AGIR, EREN YILDIRIM and THOMAS KOLARCZYK are adept in building a musical bridge between tradition and modernity with saz, guitar, contrabass and
percussion; they are virtuous, uncompromising and always trusting
new intuitions.
