Formed in New Delhi in 2004, Advaita is considered to be one of India's leading musical acts. Since its inception, the band has performed at more than 400 concerts across India and countries such as U.K, Singapore, South Africa, Maldives and Egypt; released two successful albums, and won several awards and accolades.
A kaleidoscope of melodies, rhythms, and moods, Advaita draws from diverse influences ranging from Indian Classical to ambient rock, jazz and electronic music. The band is credited with creating a new contemporary Indian sound, hailed by audiences as well as critics as original and progressive.
In 2009 famous British producer John Leckie (Radiohead, Pink Floyd, George Harrison) selected Advaita as one of the four bands for the British Council Soundpad Project. As a part of the project, the band recorded two songs for a globally released compilation album, followed by a five-city tour of the UK. Advaita’s second album, ‘The Silent Sea’ went on to win ‘Best Rock Album’ at the annual Global Indian Music awards as well as ‘Best Album’ at the Rolling Stone India’s Jack Daniel Rock Awards, 2012-13. The band has been featured on prime time TV shows like MTV CIke Studio, MTV Unplugged, The Dewarists and Soundtrek on Fox Traveller.
