Performing and composing musician Cecilie Giskemo was educated with a Bachelor Degree in Jazz at Leeds College of Music and Masters Degree in Contemporary Music (with distinction) at Dartington College of Arts, both in England. Currently she is working freelance with international engagements within music education, workshop facilitation and project management. She has collaborated with artists from all over the world and, through music workshops and performances, Cecilie has featured at events and on radio/TV in Norway, England, Germany, USA, Mexico, Zimbabwe and Nepal.
Cecilie is the founder, composer and performer in the group Suzy&2; an Oslo based jazz/world fusion project that released their first album on the label Music Nepal in March 2013. She also initiated, composed for and performed in the 17 piece global female ensemble WoCalling and toured Europe with the group in 2011. She is the co-founder, composer and performer in the a cappella trio Røyst Trio, who was selected for the ensemble singing competition at Tampere vocal music festival in Finland in 2013 and further, for Sonic Slam Chorus; a fusion of spoken word and jazz with a total of 9 members from Zimbabwe, Botswana, UK and Norway.
Cecilie specialises in cross-cultural art collaborations, specifically, composing, performing, artistic management, organising workshops and performances and the developing of art collaboration strategy formulation. She has also worked as an international music teacher through FK Norway (Norwegian Peace corps) exchange programmes in Zimbabwe and Nepal, specializing in music programme and curriculum development, capacity building and training of music teachers and students.
She has studied the mbira since 2009 and incorporates this Zimbabwean traditional instrument in many of her music projects. instrumentet i mange av sine musikkprosjekt. For tida studerar ho pedagogikk ved Noregs Musikkhøgskule i Oslo og jobbar nasjonalt og internasjonalt som frilans musikar, komponist, prosjektleiar og lærar.
