New electric Afro-blues from dynamic duo of rocking guitar and wailing one-string fiddle.
Going down to the crossroads where tradition meets psychedelia, following the nomadic paths of the ancient griots to the concrete and steel of the urban jungle, stopping off at an old Mississippi juke joint on the way, Robert Plant and Tinariwen collaborator Justin Adams and West African master musician Juldeh Camara have created a new electric Afro-blues fuelled by rocking guitar and incisive one-string fiddle. Gambian griot Juldeh Camara lives in Birmingham and has worked with musicians of every genre, effortlessly slipping his trance-inducing riti lines into any groove. Guitarist Justin Adams came up during the post-punk period where dub and funk met Islamic sounds and Afro beats in West London. Now jointly known as JuJu, they show the contemporary UK music scene as it is: no borders, plenty of attitude.
Justin Adams played guitar and wrote with Robert Plant for eight years and is a renowned producer. His work with Saharan desert blues sensations TINARIWEN, Robert Plant's Strange Sensations band, and his collaborations with Brian Eno, Jah Wobble and LO'JO , have added to his unique style.
His musical partner, Juldeh Camara, is a Gambian griot and master musician. A life-long guardian of the Fula oral tradition, Juldeh's skills on the riti, a single stringed fiddle, are unparalleled and his astonishing voice combines power and delicacy. Drummer Dave Smith is a leading light of the young jazz and improvised music scene, who has studied Drumming in Africa.
