Anelis Assumpcao is full of swing and groove. She's a Singer, songwriter and percussionist, who's about to release her first album including a handful of original song. Itamar Assumpcao, an icon in Brazilian music, would proud of his legacy: Anelis, his daughter, work has been receiving critics accolades not only for music but also for keeping her father's poetry and style alive. Her music is a mixture of samba, reggae, hip-hop and the so-called "Vanguarda Paulistana" an expression designed to describe the indescribable genre created by Itamar.
Her soothing low voice and theatrical interpretation on stage stress the Power of her lyrics: on "Bola com os amigos" she directly addresses and common frustration amongst Brazilian women: her beau is out playing soccer with friends... Her lyrics could easily be those of comic strips on a newspaper: funny, direct, acid...
Anelis's band is formed by musicians of three different generations: three of them (Bruno Buarque, Cris Scabello and Mauricio Prenholatto) are members of dub/reggae band "Rockers Control". They are followed by Simone Sou and Lelena Anhaia, former "Orquideas do Brasil", Itamar's Assumpcao side band.
In 2009 many doors have been opening for Anelis: she has been invited to perform at prestigious venues in Sao Paulo and other capitals in Brazil. Now's she's ready to tour Europe, the US and the rest of the world.
