Mônica da Silva grew up living between the USA and Belém, Brazil, a city on the Amazon River. Experiencing life in two very different places helped to shape da Silva's original sound. Her music mixes vintage Brazilian Bossa Nova with Indie Pop, into a genre she calls Indie Nova.

da Silva's highly-acclaimed album “Brasilissima”, is a throwback to the days of vintage Bossa Nova, but has plenty of modern elements and edge. da Silva brings her cultural diversity to her music, seamlessly flowing between English and Portuguese, and blending bossa nova with pop sensibility.

Putumayo Records was so impressed by da Silva's first single "Aí Então", that they featured her on one of their world-renowned compilations entitled “Brazilian Beat”. Putumayo has received critical acclaim for its “irresistible anthologies [drawn] from a global menu of possibilities” (The Chicago Tribune). Currently the largest World Music Label, Putumayo has sold over 27 million of their albums in over 100 countries.

da Silva's songs have also been licensed by ESPN for The World Cup programming, TED Talks, the Angel Record's compilation "Ibiza Beats", the BBC series "The Replacement", French Airline Air Austral, for their 2017 In-Flight Entertainment throughout Europe and South America, and the brand new Paramount Network Television show "American Woman", starring Alicia Silverstone.

Teaming up her talents with guitarist Chad Alger, has led to an incredible energy and compatibility that is revealed in both their live performances and through their recordings.
