Olaya Sound System was founded in Lima in 2008, with the intention of looking for an own sound, which integrates different kinds of Peruvian and tropical influences. In 2010, with the Peruvian Label Descabellado, they launched their rst album “Nadar en el Cemento” with great infuences of reggae and cumbia, that had very good reviews from the public and the press. Later in 2012, they launched their second album ‘‘Nuestra casa’’, in which to the mix of “reggaecumbia” is added a clear Andean pro le in the melodies and rhythms, in line with the artistic search that the group was carrying out. Between 2013 and 2014, the band dedicates itself to play, performing at differents concerts and national and international festivals with some bands like Café Tacuba (México), Sargento García (France), Chico Trujillo (Chile), Systema Solar (Colombia) among others, becoming part of the main musical and contemporary projects of Peru. In 2015, they toured through various cities in Chile (Arica, Iquique, Valparaíso, Santiago and Concepción), in which the group very successfully presented their music for the rst time to an international audience. That same year the band recorded and released their third album “Quién es Quién” and presented it on a tour of the southern highlands of Peru (Arequipa, Cusco and Tacna).
In 2016, Olaya’s music reaches Uruguay, Argentina and Chile, with three international tours for the album’s presentation in Latin America. With more than 40 shows in Peru this year (including renouned festivals like Selvámonos or Descabellado) and with a lot of fans, they took the time to record their 4th album that will be released by the end of the year.
The first single ‘Quiero que Llueva”, came out on September 11th.
