In September 2004 Sergey Kuryokhin Foundation in St.Petersburg has acquired a permanent home - Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Center. The city Government allocated the building of former Priboy cinema in Vasilievsky Island as a basis for a new institution.

Sergey Kuryokhin Foundation was founded in 1997, shortly after the renowned composer and musician’s untimely death in July 1996. Since then the Foundation has been involved in multifaceted artistic, cultural and charitable activities. Their annual culmination is SKIF - Sergey Kuryokhin International Festival.

For most of his life Sergey Kuryokhin was the focal point of everything artistically challenging, creative and groundbreaking first in the city of St.Petersburg, then nationally and eventually internationally. SKIF has tried to play the same role for a few brief days and nights every April.
