Sixto Corbalan
Performing with his brother Juanjo they conform a harp duo which offers an energetic and very rich interpretation of the traditional Paraguayan harp, creating rounded harmonies and rich sounds that provide the musical emphasis so characteristic of the onomatopoeic melodies for this instrument.
The use of two special "keys" for the left hand developed by Maestro Nicolas Caballero for this instrument, which is normally tuned to a diatonic scale, is a modern technique that allows them to bring out a new way of interpretive style and new compositions.
They are creating new contemporary music which mixes up the traditional rhythms such as Polka Paraguaya, Guarania with resources of other music genres. Keeping in mind their traditions they develop the strong heritage of Paraguayan harp music in their own style and innovative performances that reach out worldwide with presentations in Asia, Europe and America.
