Large Number was born after the break-up of analogue head cases. Add N to X, its the new project from Ann Shenton. She uses Theremins, moogs, kORG ms20'S, Gestaposizer (donated by the American inventor John Telaga is 'a yellow box of hell with lotsa knobs and flesh shredding sonics'),banjo, dogs and sheep to create the signature sound.
Accompanying Ann in the studio is ex Add n to X drummer Rob Allum.
The 2003 debut album 'spray on sound' has won audiences from radio 3 to New York's most avant garde turntables.
The album was followed by the 7'' EP 'The Now Defunct Delaware' and Large Number also appear on 'The Electronic Bible chapter 1' album and single.
The single 'Shy English Hitler'('The Electronic Bible chapter 2'seven inch)is a spoof of the Dudley Moore/Peter Cook pop song in the film 'Bedazzled'.It is littered with pac-man rhythms and refrains wrung out of god knows what, yet its sweetly sinister in a 'Da-Da-Da' sort of way.
After touring in Europe, North America and South America (with Chicks on Speed), Large Number are back in the studio recording the forthcoming mini album 'Modern Horror' due for release in spring 2006.
Large Number composed the music for the award winning BBC Radio program 'First Impressions' which came 2nd place in the Syngeta Science Writers Award 2004.
