Palo Cruzao was created and directed by Omar Fandiño since 1998 with the purpose of promote and getting to know the folklore of the Colombian Orinoco plains.
Considered as one of the best groups of the llanero genre in the currents, due to its highlighted artistic presentations in different stages around the world.
The most recent and important recognition, that palo cruzao has received was the Latin Grammy Award 2016 in the category Best Folkloric Album through his work "In Colombian Harmonies".
