Singers of Zante (island in the Ionian Sea) is a polyphonic folk ensemble, who struggle to keep alive a unique musical tradition of ages, the art of "kantades". "Kantades" were urban traditional songs and poems of the 18th century, dealing mostly with love, where young men used to sing all night long under the balcony of their fiances, but also dealing with everyday life as well as religious tradition. The songs were accompanied by small guitars and mandolins.
The group has travelled the musical tradition of Zakinthos and of the Ionian Islands all around the world.
