A Yorkshire duo with a growing reputation for serving up a range of hot sounds from around the world, using all acoustic ingredients. For the last ten years the band have built up a large and varied repertoire. Rhythmically inspired by the sounds of Latin America and Africa, Caribbean, bluegrass, boogie and rhumba.The band proved a mighty success at last year's Cork Jazz Festival, Beverley and East Riding Folk Festival and The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, Kilkenny. The mambo's will quite happily take you on a whistle stop tour of the musical world, taking in Cuba, Congo, Kentucky and a lot more besides.
Mambo Jambo are Pete Jack - Guitar, vocal, banjo, percussion, tres (traditional Cuban guitar) Frankie Banham - Saxophone, clarinet, flute, guitar, vocal, percussion Mambo Jambo carry with them more instruments than the average orchestra.
Pete Jack & Frankie Banham have teamed up with a hot rhythm trio consisting of Andy Swift (double bass) and Grant Ardis & Gary McKeown (both on percussion), in order to turn up the dancefloor heat. With the Latin grooves locked tight, Spanish guitar, tres,
sax, clarinet, flute and voices can join the wicked interplay.
Expect a classic acoustic line-up, expect to hear Afro-Cuban son & salsa, Brazilian Samba styles and other potent sounds, and don't expect to stand still as QUINTETO MAMBOJAMBO bring their rumba from the Humber to you.
