Izaline Calister wins the Edison Award
The Edison Award is the most important prize of the Dutch music industry for albums of outstanding quality. It is awarded since 1960 and therefore the oldest musical prize in the Netherlands, to be compared with the American Grammy Award, the German Preis der Schallplattenkritik and the French Victoire.
The jury of the Edison Award announced Izaline Calister has won the Edison Award 2009 in the category worldmusic with her latest album Speransa. The jury is impressed by the way Izaline combines a perfect mix of styles on this album.
On Wednesday November 18 the presentation of the Edison Awards takes place in the Frits Philips Theatre in Eindhoven and will be broadcasted by Radio6. The winners of the Edison Awards will perform together with the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Vince Mendoza.
