CANDOMBE is a documentary film that reflects the lifestyle of the Afro- Uruguayan culture present in Montevideo, capital from Uruguay. This culture wich comes from African slaves that were brought to the coast of the Rio de la Plata lives now in an environment of permanent music and dance. Their music is called CANDOMBE and this film gets deep into the world of these people and the most important and distinguished personalities of contemporary Candombe like Juan Angel Silva, Juan Velorio, Fernando Nuñez, Marta Gularte and Lágrima Ríos.
In this journey the renowned poet, arquitect, musician and painter Carlos Pez Vilaró guide us with his voice and poetry.
Beyond the DVD containing the documentary film, this release includes the CD called AFRIKANDOMBE that contains songs composed by Carlos Paez Vilaró performed by Mauricio Trobo and himself.
