Suvi Oskala is a fiddle player and a singer comibining a solo career with ensemble work in band such as SO III and Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala. She composes material for her solo work and ensembles, and has composed and performed music for several whole performances ranging from the world’s first sign language opera and music for the theatre, solo material in a more contemporary style.

Her main focus as a musician is to explore new sounds and techniques on her instruments, to play and sing simultaneously but independently and to further focus on improvisation and accompanying on her instruments. The music she plays in her various projects varies between avantgarde improvisation and traditional folk music.

​Apart from her work as an ensemble player Suvi has performed solo music in performances such as visualised solo concert 'Nainen joka harjoitteli luolassa' (2006), 'Ma-te-ma-tiik-kaa hi-tau-des-ta' (2010) and 'Klaustrofunktionalismi' (2013). All of these were created by the group with other young artists from different genres.

Suvi Oskala also works as a teacher of folk music in Pakila music school in Helsinki. She has also been a part of a group that has created ways to teach folk music online and is nowadays a teacher on the courses the group created at the Sibelius Academy.

Suvi Oskala holds a Master of Music degree from the Folk Music Department of Sibelius Academy where she studied from 2002 to 2010 with fiddle and singing as her two majors.
