Twinned with our album Tanzania Intruments, here
more than 600 Chagga men and women chant on
the slopes of Mount Meru, at least a hundred Gogo
from the plains let us hear their timeless praise
songs, humorous songs from the Nyamwezi
community in Dar-es-Salaam, lyrical wigasha dance
songs by the Sukuma, and the unmistakable Maasai
chanting to go along with their jump dances. Vocals straight from the heart, by peoples without any kind of identity crisis.
Historical recordings made in 1950 by Hugh Tracey.
