The members of the band are all part of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, which in the past decades has become the transmitter of both the urban gypsy and the village folk music styles, the former mostly played by gypsy musicians. The force of the village dances, the bouncing rhythms of this rich heritage do not oppress the virtuoso play of the performance-oriented urban gypsy style. István Pál ‘Szalonna’, first violinist of his band, entered the ensemble as a representative of the village heritage, which is now revived in dance-houses, but soon has become a worthy partner in virtuosity with his co-leader violinist Ferenc Radics, descendant of a
renowned gypsy musician family.
