Multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter Gianna Tam (Surinam/Netherlands) has barely known her biological father as he passed away when she was only 11 months old. The well-known Dutch drummer Lucas van Merwijk joined her
family, and introduced her to the world of drums and percussion.
At the age of sixteen, Gianna started performing in her now stepdad's different percussion projects. Travelling across national and international concert hall's, radio, TV and recording studio's, Gianna settled in, in the life of a musician at a very young age.
Apart from excelling in the field of percussion and drums (Drums United, Bongomatik, Van Merwijks Music Machine, etc.), she started singing in various projects and bands developing her vocal skills. During her studies at the Amsterdam conservatory, she discovered a new side of herself her passion for songwriting.
On her debut album 'Make Me Smile' Gianna shares her qualities as a singer/songwriter with us. Energetic and original songs, swinging, soulfull, rocky and funky, about life and love, but also small and sensitive like her duet with master guitarist Leonardo Amuedo are being presented in a tasteful manner.
