This album is called Hawaiki the spiritual birthplace of the Maori people.
The songs musically are a mixture of reggae/world with tradition running through them.
Song has always been one powerful medium of learning, and helping information being retained,
Some of these songs are most memorable as they were written in my youth days.
From rebellious types, to more serious and contemplative style songs, even some in traditional composition style of pao and oriori.
Always with strong reference to my musical influences again, but with this album I would like to pay particular attention to contemporary Mäori music.
My singing, writing and performing skills come from Rätana music, with strong roots in the 1920’s, a fascinating period of our people.
