TAZZUFF. VANGUARD FOLK

Formed in Barcelona, Tazzuff's aim is to build a self-made repertoire, totally instrumental and based on traditional language. Their objective is a repertoire which sounds new and imaginative balancing at the same time the important of every instrument in the group. The group is composed by six young instrumentalists coming from different stylistic field, and their repertoire, which is old of their own, and the arrangements approach folk to other styles like jazz, flamenco and rumba with a result into an air of innovation and experimentation.

In 2010 Tazzuff won the third prize of Sounds of the Mediterranean, summoned by the magazine Sounds at CAT (Centre Artesà Tradicionarius) in Barcelona and the Mediterranean Fair in Manresa. The prize Sounds of the Mediterranean has allowed the first Tazzuff CD recording and also their presence at important appointments within the folk and traditional scene in Catalonia, such as the 31st Festival Internacional de Música Popular i Tradicional de Vilanova i la Geltrú, the FestCat/Escola de la Festa de Llívia or the 14 th Fira Mediterrània de Manresa.

Recently, the group has also won the first prize of Folk Music Competition “Folkez Blai”, celebrated in Ermua (Basque Country, Spain).

Nowadays, Tazzuff is working in the creation of new repertoires and thinking about the next recording project. The group aims to bring its music to Europe, in order to be known and to be included in the present european danse and folk music offer.
