Terra Ensamble

This Venezuelan flutist and composer now living in Spain, has had a solid formation due to an extraordinarily rich musical upbringing. Born to a family of traditional musicians, he demonstrated, early in his childhood, an extraordinary command of various Venezuelan folk instruments, namely the harp, the cuatro and de bandola.


From 1991 to 1996 he extended and consolidated his musical training as a student and member of his country’s System of Youth Orchestras, at both the Venezuelan National Youth Orchestra and the Simón Bolívar Symphonic Orchestra. Likewise, in 1991, he became a member of the Symphonic Orchestra of Venezuela where he performed until 1996.


Nowadays, Omar is one of Venezuela’s leading exponents in the new field of popular academic music, and is furthermore distinguished for showing extraordinary versatility in a cornucopia of different genres ranging from Jazz, Latin, Indian and African to flamenco. He is indeed, very much in demand in Spain.


Omar has taken his flute and his music across the world to more than thirty countries: U.S.A., Mozambique, England, Ireland, Cyprus, Hungary, Japan, Rumania, Singapore, Thailand, Holland, Turkey, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Jordan, Israel, France, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Lebanon, Poland, the Check Republic, South Africa, Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg), Lithuania, El Salvador, Mexico…..


As for his composition skills, it must be emphasized that his music has been performed and registered on stages and festivals throughout the world by prestigious soloists, ensembles and orchestras.


Among his most outstanding Works are his “Concert for Cajon Flamenco and Orchestra” (the first to be written in its genre) which was premiered by the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra and his “Venezuelan Dances” for Flute and String Orchestra (premiered by the Symphonic Orchestra of Venezuela).


He has been justly awarded the AMADEUS 2008 for Choir Compositions in the World Heritage City of Caceres, Spain.
