The SHRINE SYNCHRO SYSTEM is our ever-evolving musical unit, which has developed out of our SHRINE club nights. At its core, the soundscapes created by DJs RITA and MAX lay the foundations for the live musicians to rip it up onstage - musicians including TONY ALLEN, TY and WUNMI (for Berlin’s Heimatklänge & Womad UK), and Zimbabwe’s mbira queen STELLA CHIWESHE for the our Electronic Shabini Collective February ‘04 /continuing).
THE SHRINE, our club night was inspired by Fela Kuti's Lagos club and the rebirth of Afrobeat brought about by his untimely death in 1997.It’s become the biggest Afrocentric club night in London, breaking acts like Orishas, Daara J and Tinariwen.
