The Singing Wells Project
Recording, archiving and sharing the traditional music of East Africa.
The Singing Wells project is a collaboration between the UK based Abubilla Music Foundation and the Nairobi based Ketebul Music. The aims of the project are to record, archive and share the traditional music of East Africa. We do this by travelling to remote areas with mobile recording studios, and publishing the music we record on our website, soundcloud and our videos on YouTube. Our website features a clickable map - showing the groups and the locations we have recorded in.
Performers are paid a gratuity for their time while performing, and retain the rights to their music.
