'Give me tenderness to forget your promises', they
sing. Isn't that poetry? Of course, Alain Arsac and
Jean-Francois Veyran are happy to produce
Marseille chat too, and have built up a large
following in the process. They are offbeat, naturally.
With his accordion on his shoulders, one chats,
while the other scratches away furiously at his
guitar. They make music together and don't care
about genres or trends in their unique, energetic
universe. Their songs unfold in the happiness of
their audience and they speak of themselves, of us
all, and serve up stories peppered with choice
phrases, words which evoke dishes of olives on
table tops in cafes. - LE DAUPHINE LIBERE
One is peroxide blond, the other close-shaven. The
former plays the accordion like no one else while
the other teases his six strings with talent. The duo
is improbable, but devilishly effective. Through
their short, inspired songs, they use cheeky
humour to depict slices of life and chronicle the ups
and downs of day-to-day experience (the queues at
the social security or the waste of dogs on the
pavements of their hometown, Arles). With their
sing-song accent and their good humour, these duellists have brought southern chat
up to new heights, cheeky and poetic at the same
time.- M. Mvx DERNIERES NOUVELLES D'ALSACE
