Marc Delmas is the Mr Meticulous of the French
music scene in Gironde. He is so precise with his
lyrics which create ethereal ambiences, spray mists
of scintillating pastel imagery, with a touch of
affectation, sometimes with some nice tongue-in-
cheek, a gentle joke (...). Precise, almost fussy with
rich musical arrangements where each note is
timed to perfection, where lyrical flight is controlled
to stop at the right moment before it becomes
schmaltzy, which is quite an art. (...)
A few tracks from his future CD (...) have already
found their way into his current live shows
beautifully rounded, like peaceful roadbooks in
which you see the universe floating by as if through

Although there is something reminiscent of a bird
about him, he certainly isn't birdlike... Marc Delmas
is a sentimental flying creature with the soul of a
wanderer, who observes and comments on the
infinite nuances of light, of atmosphere... His songs
speak of the tenuous thread of the present, of our
seasonal human changes, of our moods. His songs
are lively in the most unexpected of places,
preferring the fragile branches to the sturdy trunk:
Marc is a surprising melodist, often light and
joyous, but also able to reach deep down to find
husky, cracked notes which hurt by their beauty.
The drums-bass-guitar formation, enhanced here
with a little sprinkling of piano, accordion or
glockenspiel, classily serves the rich palette of
music in this new album. We would be wrong to
separate the influence of Anglo-Saxon music (seen
in the title) from the equally pronounced influence
of French tradition. Putting his trust in his instinct,
Marc Delmas continues along his highly personal
path as a free artisan, a natural musician, free as a
