The uzbek music is related to the great tradition of "maqam" which extends from the Maghreb to the Chinese Turkestan. Its appears like a bridge between the Middle East, India, Persia ans China, while presenting virtuosic passages of great originality and remarkable authenticity. The trio gathers Gozal MUMINOVA at the "dutor" (big lute with two silk strings) and Umid BOLTAEV at the "tanbur" (lute with a small drum and a long neck) accompaning the singer Nadira PIRMATOVA, whose voice captivated the international jury at the singing competition of the Festival of Samarkand in 2005. Their repertory covers a large field of tadjik and uzbek songs, from refined and complex pieces of "Shashmaqam" (highbrow tradition reserved in the past to men) to rejoicing songs (toy).
