Tradition and youth on the same fado filled stage

"Art, tradition, experience and youth combined in a magical way" "the two harmonize perfectly"
in Fado Today

Sometimes, when two people meet, something special and unique might happen. These are encounters where each of the protagonists gains something that was lacking before, where the best in each person comes out just because of the other. That
is certainly the case of this encounter between Jorge Fernando and Fabia Rebordao that has gained them strong applause at the beginning of 2012 from all that sold out the capacity of the Carnegie
Hall in New York. That was a high point of a tour the duo did in 2011 and that took them all over Portugal. What the American public witnessed and that is valid in any language was an extreme
complicity manifested in a show where art, tradition, experience and youth combine in a magical way.

On stage, Jorge Fernando commands a charismatic presence, the result of decades of experience and of a really big heart that was simply born to live these moments, when the breathing stops and applause happens naturally. Fabia, one might say, was born to do something similar: with a voice that's bigger than life, she also has a real soul that gives fados that texture that transforms them into classics.

Together, Jorge and Fabia trade songs, mix their voices during some classics and show everyone of what threads is this fado made of. The very same fado that is now a recognized world treasure. And the same thing happens all the time: on the Carnegie Hall stage or on a dim lit corner of a fado house an unconditional surrender to an idea of fado that has tradition but can also dream of the future.

Fabia Rebordao is only 22 years old, but she's regarded as a true talent. New blood of fado, Fabia is more than just an extraordinary performer: she's also a remarkable lyricist and composer, as one can attest from listening to her beautiful debut album, released in 2011. The Eighth Color features Jorge Fernando, the singer and composer who discovered, produced and wrote for such internationally known fado talents as Mariza or Ana Moura. Another good sign of the fado caliber of Fabia Rebordao can be seen on her family ties: she's the cousin of the great late Amalia Rodrigues and she has been praised by the sister of the great diva, Celeste Rodrigues. Used to applause since she was very young, Fabia started being noticed by singing in reputed fado houses like Tasca do Chico or Clube de Fado. She is currently resident at the very exclusive Casa de Linhares.

Jorge Fernando, on the other hand, is already part of the fado history. But unlike other artists that can claim a place in history solely because of what they did on the past, Jorge can also claim a
place in the present and in the future. This man played with Amalia and learned his trade from the unique master Fernando Mauricio never rested on past glories. Quite the opposite. He always faced
forward, helping to project the careers of people like Mariza or Ana Moura, wrote for Camane, sang with Portuguese rapper Sam The Kid. Now, his most recent discovery answers to the name of Fabia Rebordao.
