Fahim Qureshi has over eighteen years experience of working in the public sector arts and cultural development field and has worked in four, very different, local authorities. Throughout these years,
He has managed and co-ordinated a wide portfolio of projects, programmes and events. These projects and programmes have ranged from, under-taking strategic reviews on the arts and cultural needs of specific ethnic minority communities residing in the London Borough of Hackney, to producing and managing major outdoor cultural events and festivals, attracting audiences of up to 140,000 people
Fahim is currently heading up Luton Borough Council’s Arts Development Unit as Arts Development Manager. Since taking up the post, last August, he has actively been involved in establishing both the Hat Factory as a centre and resource for Arts Development in Luton and the eastern region He has also contributed to the formulation of the Council’s Cultural Strategy and Community Plan, in which the establishment of a National Carnival Centre, in Luton, plays a major part.
Fahim is ultimately responsible for the borough’s programme of high profile arts development initiatives, events and festival such as The Luton International Carnival, Asian Summer including the Luton Mela, St Georges Day Festival, The Luton Arts Development fund, etc.
