Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Music and/or Musicology

Applicants are sought for a full-time lectureship in Music (Performance) and/or Musicology. The Music Department, a constituent part of the Faculty of Human Ecology, at Universiti Putra Malaysia, seeks to further enhance its profile as a successful research unit and a unique place to study music in close connection with its cultural environment. The successful candidate will have a suitable academic background, a PhD in any field of musicology, music performance or music education. S/He will have a proven record of outstanding research (regular publications in the past years) or show strong promise of future excellence.
The Music Department has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, and relevant experience in the higher education sector is a pre-requisite for the post.
This full-time post is tenable earliest from 1 July 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter and is limited from 1 - 3 years in the first instance, but it is hoped that a permanent appointment may follow under given individual conditions.
