With his band VASSVIK, the Sami Soundpoet TORGEIR VASSVIK from
Norway provides you with a fresh kick from the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Get mesmerized by a contemporary vision of animistic Joik, the vocal art of the Sami indigenous people of Northern Europe! Sound magician TORGEIR VASSVIK combines joik, guitar and frame drum with an innovative Norwegian violin duo, the Kjorstad Brothers, in his band VASSVIK. TORGEIR VASSVIK creates a trancelike, contemporary sound with facets full of beauty, rooted in our most ancient traditions. As one of the most innovative Sami musician these days he performed a daycase at WOMEX16.
Now, at WOMEX17, it is our goal to find great partners and bookers, in order to play festivals and concerts worldwide and to strengthen global indigenous cooperation for a
