The beautiful, strong women who form The African Mamas produce an overwhelming, emotional and energetic show with a new view of Africa. The africa of challenges instead of problems. The Africa of Hope and Vitality. The smiling Africa, the new continent. Not wild savages in Leopard skins, but beatiful modern women in " Haute Couture". The Africa of the women that keep the continent floating.
Via soul, gospel, jazz, township jive, ballads and traditional-a-capella songs, they take us by the hand to the continent where one is not afraid to show his emotions. And through their dance, they show us a culture where movement is part of every day life. And it does not matter if you are skinny or fat, tall or small. The body is used to express all emotions, both happy and sad, as a ritual dance, initiation or even prayer.
The Mamas are accompanied by seven top instrumentalists, coming from the stables of famous musicians such as Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela.
