La Troba Kung Fu is the new project of Dusminguet-singer and accordeon player Joan Garriga. Dusminguet was together with Ojos de Brujo, Amparanoia and Macaco one of the leading bands in Spain's so called 'mestizo' scene.
After a long list of different cruel situations and problems, Dusminguet decided in 2004 to have a break. Frontman Joan Garriga now comes back with his own project 'La Troba Kung Fu'. His inspiration and influences didn't change, his music still is a creative mixture of cumbia, Catalan rumba, vallenato, reggae, rai, boogie-woogie, blues,... From Uruguay to Mexico, from Bratislava to La Garriga.
A passion for as well football, cycling racing, beer, Slovakian dishes and rootsmusic from every region in this world. Joan Garriga is not only interested in all world's beauties, he is a great musician and a passionated troubadour. With good friends and great musicians because La Troba Kung Fu is the new home for people like 'Muneco' (multi-instrumentalist and former musician within Ojos de Brujo, Amparanoia), Maria Roch (Jarabe de Palo), 'Totti' (Wagner Pa) and some incredible 'ventilador'-guitarplayers. Gypsy Kings? Yes, but in an alternative version.
