With 18 years she was already a Young Master of Folk Music. Soon she appeared at the front of Anima Sound System, a bandvery popular with the youth of Hungary, experimenting withthe fusion of Hungarian folk-songs and electronic music. She researched the transition of the Hungarian vocal folklore as a student of ethnology at the ELTE University in Budapest, while touring Europe with the vocalist band Vandor Vokal, performing polyphonic songs of the nations in the Balkan and Carpathian- Basin region. The work with the famous Makam band has brought her a wider popularity on world-musical stages. She has also been invited to sing on popular Flemish band Kadril's album De Andere Kust, and after the recording also numerous successful concerts have followed. At present she is featured as a solo vocalist of innumerable albums and bands; be it folk music, poems set to music, old music or world music. She is a guest performer at the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble in Budapest, concerts with luthier Konya Istvan, appears in the renown Sebo Ensemble, appears as a solo vocalist of the Etnofon Zenei Tarsulas and the Szajrol szajra production, and her own world music band established in 2006. Szilvia was invited to appear on one of Sebestyen Marta's albums, and Marta has in a way become the 'musical mother' of Szilvia during the recording of her own solo album Song Preserves the Heartbeat of Time. She was awarded the Artisjus performer's prize in 2004 and the eMeRTon prize of the Hungarian Radio in the category of Folk Singer of the Year, and she received the Kodaly Zoltan Memorial Award in 2007.
