VUT (German Association of Independent Record Companies) was founded in 1993 to react on changes in the music industry and to help small companies deal with today’s tough competition.
The purpose of VUT, according to its articles of association, is to connect, to protect and to support its members in taking care of their cultural and business tasks.

Actually VUT has got round about 1200 members, mostly small and medium companies working in the music business: Independent Record Labels, Music Publishers and Producers. Amongst our members are !K7, Aggro Berlin, BPitch Control, Cargo Records, Circle Song, City Slang, Crippled Dick Hot Wax, Echo Beach, Enja Records, Essay Recordings, finetunes, Four Music, Freibank, Groove Attack, In-Akustik, Indigo, Kitty-Yo, Kompakt, Kontor, Le Pop, LOW SPIRIT, Louisville Records, Motor Music, MZEE, Network Medien, Piranha Musik, Sanctuary Records, ~scape, Tresor Records, ulfTone, WARE Records and many more.

Aims and objectives of the Association

- representation of its members’ interests regarding music industry in the public
- dealing with institutions, governmental authorities and associations
- education and counselling its members
- stimulating cooperation among its members
- improvement of economic conditions on the basis of framework agreements
- contacting associations and institutions worldwide
