Amadou Diagne delivers soulful, bluesy songs with energy and an honest intensity that reflects on the joys and hardships of life. His 'honey-smoked' vocals have a rich tone, soaring from a deep bass to a breathy falsetto in one exquisite phrase. He sings in English, French and Wolof, the language of his homeland in Senegal, West Africa.

Now, after the release of his second album Yakar (Waulk Records, May 2013) he is backed by his new band including West African percussion, bass and guitar along with violin and Swedish nyckelharpa played by his producer Griselda Sanderson. Diagne learned to play guitar only after moving to the UK, and with his background as a percussionist in L'Orchestre National du Senegal he has developed an unusual percussive style of guitar playing.

In the spring of 2013 the band was awarded PRS for Music Foundation funds to tour in rural areas of the UK.
