WÖR is a five-man band (Violin, Bagpipes, Accordion, Guitar & Saxophones) who puts new energy in old 18th century tunes from Belgium.

Get ready to jump back and forth in time between the 1780’s and the 21st century! With their finely-textured arrangements, WÖR inject fresh energy into 18th-century tunes from Belgium. Their music shines an inventive spotlight, with a modern twist, on tunes from the manuscripts of collectors such as De Gruijtters (Antwerp, 1746), Van Belle (Van Belle, 1743), De Prins (Leuven, 1781) and many more. Their album, Back to the 1780’s, has received rave reviews across Europe and the U.S.

QUOTES:

"WÖR’s arrangements are finely textured, their performance exuberant"
Julian May - Songlines Magazine

"Wör's album is brilliant. It's very exciting to hear a young band reinterpreting old manuscripts in a refreshing and new way"
Sam Sweeney - BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician Of The Year 2015

“They’re all astonishing musicians, coaxing fantastic sounds out of their chosen instruments. But more than this, they craft intricate and fresh arrangements for each piece.”
Stephen D. Winnick – Huffington Post

“There's great life in these tunes, and the band knows how to bring that out. The tunes sparkle with a mischevious life after the dust of two centuries is blown off them.”
Devon Leger, KithFolk Magazine/Hearth Music
