NETSAYI RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE 'PUNCH DRUNK'

Released on World Connection on June 29th 2009 "Brave enough to stand alone and be counted" Observer Music Monthly

Netsayi makes a bold return in 2009 with her new single 'Punch Drunk', released through Amsterdam-based label World Connection on June 29th. This is the first single to be taken from new album 'Monkey's Wedding'.

Netsayi's eagerly anticipated new material follows her acclaimed debut 'Chimurenga Soul' a title that described her inimitable hybrid style, mixing western sensibilities and her revolutionary Zimbabwean roots. The album was hailed as 'one of the finest debut's of 2006' by The Guardian and 'refreshingly startlingly excellent' by MOJO.

Widely tipped as an artist to watch, Netsayi's unpretentious authenticity and blend of soul, folk and African influences set her apart from many of her contemporaries.

Zimbabwe raised but now living in the UK, Netsayi has caught the attention of critics with the exquisite craft of her songwriting and the cross cultural tapestry of her music. As defiantly eclectic as she is defiantly herself, Netsayi has drawn comparison with the likes of Joan Armatrading and Nina Simone she pens songs that are as personal in their substance as they are universal in their reach.

A dazzling live performer, Netsayi has captivated audiences at many of the UK's most prestigious venues including the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall. Most recently, she enchanted the thousands who attended the St George's Day concert in Trafalgar Square, and her new material seems sure to garner further acclaim. Live plans extend throughout the year, including the Shanghai World Music Festival and an extensive UK tour from October supporting Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
