Translated from Japanese, it literally means Endogenous Ethanol Intoxication,
caused by the fermentation of rice in the intestines
Formed in 1997 by Boris Kulenovic (Bass) & Germain Samba (Drums).
They knew it would take more than guts to play their music.
Their particular sound makes your heart skip a beat, by playing in irregular rythms
and odd numbered measures ( Earth, Wind, Fire in 3, Other Spheres in 7...).
At the same time maintaining the pulse of traditional musics,
Mei Tei Sho transports the listener to a state of trance like reality.
The groove rarely walks a straight line, never genre specific,
it skips around Afrobeat, shuffles with Hip Hop, tiptoes on Rock,
crawls next to Dub and leaps over them all at once
Mei Tei Sho was born in LYON (France), and with time,
it grew and fermented on the roads of France.
With more than 500 gigs behind them, they have played in the biggest festivals in France
(Eurockeennes de Belfort, Transmusicales de Rennes, Printemps de Bourges...)
and beyond (Europe, Canada, Brazil, Egypt...).
Jessica Martin Maresco (Vox), Bruce Sherfield (Vox), Eric Teruel (Keys),
Franck Pilandon (Guitar, Sax), Jean-Phi Chalte (Effects) and Bass & Drums
are now recording the third album this summer.
The total effect of Mei Tei Sho is organic and systematic.
A natural stimulant coursing through every tissue in the body.
From intestine to aorta, from mind to feet, the sensation like a dream, not exactly real.
Not always logical, but lucid and fragile.
And when you awake, you're left with a clear, invigorating desire to do it all over again.
Who knows what you'll find in your guts in 2009...
