The Yothu Yindi Foundation was established as a non-profit charitable organisation in 1990. It was initiated by Mandawuy Yunupingu and supported by senior Yolngu clan leaders fron north east Arnhem Land Australia to foster and support the maintenance and passing on of Yolngu knowledge systems and cultural life.



The Foundation is assisting with the development and distribution of a Contemporary Masters Series of music as one element in a strategy to support Yolngu cultural practice by developing sustainable economic opportunities consisitent with Yolngu responsibilities to their law and culture.
