Zohreh Jooya was born in Mashhad in Iran. Her father being from Afghanistan and her mother from Persia she profited from both cultures. Beginning in Amsterdam she then came to Vienna where she received a classical music education at the "Academy of Music" and later earned a Master of Art degree at the "Conservatoire of the City of Vienna".
She shows a new way of interpreting the traditional music of Persia and Afghanistan, played on original instruments, presented on several albums. ARC distributes "Persian Nights" and Taraneh International a Persian lable distributes "Journey to Persia". Her albums are an example of the diverse ethnic music in Iran and Afghanistan.
Her works with the great master Majid Derakhshani comprises poetry of Molana Rumi played on Oriental and European instruments, published by ARC Music "MUSIC OF THE PERSIAN MYSTICS". For her Persian program she performs with the "GOLESTAN ENSEMBLE" which is based in Paris
Her album "SONGS FROM AFGHANISTAN" published by ARC Music covers traditional music and songs from the Kabul area. On this album she performs with the singer Hamid Golestani, arranged by the Afghan master Sobeir Bachtiar featured by the "ENSEMBLE AFGHAN" based in Austria .
Her newest programm comprises traditional music of India, Iran and Afghanistan. Here she collaborates with the "Ensemble Aasmaan" from Kolkatta and the Persian master on the kamancheh Athar Torabi
